I just uninstalled Zomato and Swiggy! Here's why:- Recently, I decided to uninstall Zomato and Swiggy and make a shift towards using the ONDC platform for my food delivery needs. For those who might not know, ONDC stands for Open Network for Digital Commerce. It’s a government-backed initiative aiming to democratize digital commerce in India. What’s interesting is that ONDC isn’t just about food—you can also shop for groceries, electronics, and even clothes from well-known fashion brands, all within the same ecosystem. So, how's my experience? 1. Affordability: The biggest factor was cost. Food on ONDC is significantly cheaper compared to Zomato and Swiggy. There are no hidden charges—no excessive packaging fees, surcharges, or random taxes that suddenly pop up at checkout. In fact, ONDC often provides free delivery on orders starting as low as ₹200, which makes it even more appealing. 2. Simplicity in Pricing, Not Always in Usage: While the cost benefits are clear, using ONDC isn’t as seamless as Zomato or Swiggy. ONDC doesn’t have a standalone app yet; instead, it operates through platforms like Paytm, Ola, and Magicpin. This can be confusing at first because it's not immediately clear where to access the ONDC services or how the ordering process works. 3. Mixed User Experience: Although the prices are great, the overall experience can sometimes be clunky. The delivery time estimates aren't always accurate, and communication between the customer and the restaurant isn't as smooth or responsive as what you'd get on Zomato or Swiggy. It’s functional, but definitely not premium. Final Thoughts: If your goal is to save money and you’re okay with a slightly less polished experience, ONDC is absolutely worth trying. But if you value a hassle-free, polished, and fast experience, and don’t mind paying a little extra for it, then Zomato and Swiggy still hold their ground. In the end, it’s about what matters more to you—price or convenience. For now, I’m enjoying the ONDC ride.
