There is a key scene which depicts Dhoni's experience during a Ranji Trophy match where Yuvraj scores a massive 358-run knock, outscoring Bihar's entire team. "๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?", asked Dhoni, while explaining to his friend what went down in the match. The next scene depicts Yuvraj walking across the basketball court where Dhoni and his team are just standing there watching him pass by, while Yuvraj gave zero attention to them. This scene wasn't meant to praise Yuvraj's performance or to depict Dhoni's fascination with him. There's a deeper meaning to it, and it took me some time to realise what the film-makers were trying to communicate here. ๐ฆ๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ? Look, it is very simple: Successful people focus on themselves, while the unsuccessful ones focus more on what others are doing instead of improving themselves. They watch others and compare themselves instead of trying to work on themselves to match the same level. Dhoni said that they lost the match at that point where they were more concerned about what Yuvraj was doing instead of practicing and improving their game. At that very point, Yuvraj claimed psychological victory over the Bihar team. This was the point where they lost the match, by focusing more on what someone else is doing instead of focusing on improving their own game skills. I see people doing the same thing with this "India vs China" comparison. And not just this, you will usually see people around you who are constantly interested in what others are doing and then feel anxious if they see anyone doing better than them. You've seen those people around you, right? The ones who make it big in life are focused only on themselves and they usually do not care what anyone else is doing or has to say. These behaviours project confidence. If you are a startup founder in India, your focus should not be on China. Instead, your prime focus should be on making your customers happy and building a product that people love. Do not let Piyush Goyal Ji's speeches or anyone else distract you from your prime objective, which is to make your customers happy and build something that people love. I have nothing but respect for politicians like him who are trying to improve India's startup ecosystem, but still you shouldn't distract yourself with this India vs China comparison, no matter what anyone says. Constant self improvement is what you should be doing as comparison with others only ruins your mental health and doesn't lead to any tangible results. Ignore the all the noise out there and focus on building great products and provide value to your customers. That should be your prime focus.
