Interesting comments but if you look at the startup showcase here, 90% of them looks like school projects and no one knows how they are going to make money, non of them can be scalable globally. I thought one KYC related can be scalable but that also didn't work for me. I would be surprised if top 20 showcase case ideas here can make even 10 lac in a year. My suggestion to Medial is to initiate a showcase for just AI where they clear ask what problem & solution, business model, go to market strategy, traction,team, high level financials, exit strategy/ vision. Finally funding and how they are going to use it.

The biggest issue I see working with Indian AI startups as an angel investor is the talent gap. While India produces excellent engineers, the specialized ML/AI talent pool with practical experience (not just theoretical knowledge) is still small compared to the US. This creates a supply-demand imbalance where AI talent is extremely expensive, making the 'small team' approach mentioned in the post much harder to execute successfully. This isn't something that can be fixed overnight.

As someone working in the Indian startup ecosystem, I think this analysis misses several key points. The B2B focus here isn't just investor preference - it's rational market behavior. Indian businesses are increasingly willing to pay for AI solutions that improve efficiency, while consumer willingness to pay remains low. US founders can charge $20/month for an AI app; the same product might only command $2 in India. The math simply works better for B2B here.

For every solo founder hitting $10M ARR, there are hundreds burning through savings with nothing to show. The infrastructure challenges in India are real - unstable power, expensive compute costs, and internet reliability issues make AI development significantly harder. Not to mention Indian founders often come from backgrounds where they can't afford to burn money for months with zero revenue.
