i slightly disagree on this.. example 1: I am profitable making oil my capacity of the factory is 100 ltr per day, selling it to local market. If I want to grow..i need to increase my factory capacity to lets say 1000 ltrs per day.. i can either wait for 3 years to make that amount in profit or i can raise funds now and grow from tomorrow. example 2 I am a profitable startup of xyz product. outsourcing the product to zzz company they are charging 20% of COGS. I raise fund, setup my own company and reduce the COGS by 20% it's not always that some tom dick n harry will order you. if u r profitable they will more or less add value rather thn command u.
