𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗯𝗻𝗯 Most people wait for the “perfect time” to start their dream project. Brian Armstrong didn’t. He built Coinbase while working full-time at Airbnb—on nights, weekends, and pure determination. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵? 𝗥𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. Worked at Airbnb until 7 PM. Came home, ate dinner, then worked on Coinbase from 8 PM to midnight, 3-4 times a week. Spent 7-8 hours every Sunday on it. He did this for 1.5 years before Coinbase got into Y Combinator. 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆? 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁. Brian admits: “It sucked. I was tired. But this is where determination comes in.” He sacrificed friendships, free time, and comfort. Because he knew—time is finite. That urgency pushed him to take action, even when exhausted. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲? 𝗚𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻. If you have something important to build, make time for it. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. Even if you don’t have all the answers, just start. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. Never build on company hours or devices—your employer may own the IP. Success doesn’t come from waiting. 𝗜𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴. So whatever you’re hesitating on- 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄. Follow Vishu Bheda for more valuable startup insights from the world's best founders!
