Instagram was huge before Reels and will be fine without it. Stories, photos, and DMs still make it a powerhouse. Reels is just one piece of the puzzle, not the whole picture.

i think they would not remove reels from Instagram, instead they would launch another app just for reels. so you cab watch reels on both insta as well on the seperate app. Anyways, if they remove rewls from insta, it would be great for people as that may cause people's screen time to reduce by hours

Even if they remove reels from Instagram, there are stories and messaging section and also the posts, which will attract playbois and playgurls (basically teenage) such people on Instagram are only to get a gf or bf, they don't care about reels. 😂 Such teenagers use reels to send to their partner just to make the conversation going if they run out of topic.

but instagram has plans to make it a full fledged video platform...they stated it 2 yrs back ig

I think we shouldn’t be quick to judge, things change quickly before we can anticipate it. If the leaders are thinking about this there must be a data backed plan.

Some users also think of reels as a big drawback of insta .. earlier people were coming to insta for images of their friends or the influencer they follow, but they rarely are able to do so because of the huge library of content and users start doom scrolling. But once we start thinking of instagram as a business it will back fire for them. if they had done that from the start it would have been a different story such as they did for Threads .. But we will see where it goes.
