A takeaway from my conversations with clinicians is that turnaround time is key, both for in-patient and OPD cases - it frees up their time and resources. Most diagnostic tests are hypotheses driven - clinician suspects something and lab tests for that via PCR or culturing. TT ranges from 8hr - 2 weeks depending on the test. Sequencing is hypothesis free and can catch poly microbial infections too! Results within 24 hrs. For ICU patients, where hospitalisation costs ~20K INR per day, getting the right diagnosis and treatment faster saves their life, and their money too. A 10K INR test that shortens ICU stay by even a day pays for itself.
