um.. It depends on the idea tbh. if it's an add on feature to an existing company, I'll build and bootstrap it later sell to the company to a higher amount. (use these funds on later projects). if it's the best idea I got, i would bootstrap in the initial stages and build the product to a certain stage (as far as I can) and later would seek for VC and give out lesser percentage as i already got the initial amount from bootstrap. (I am the first investor for my own idea).
