What if we could make medical deliveries faster? Well, that’s exactly what Zipline is doing in the USA! So founded in 2016 by Keller Rinaudo, Keenan Wyrobek, and William Hetzler, Zipline makes drones that deliver medical products like whole blood, platelets, frozen plasma, vaccines, etc to hard to reach places. These electric drones, weighing 20 kg, can travel at a speed of 101 km/h while carrying a 1.8 kg payload and got a 300 km range How Zipline Works? 1) Hospitals and clinics place their orders. 2) Zipline loads the ordered goods into the drone. 3) The drone drops the goods at the delivery location. They currently provide their services in 3 countries (ie Rwanda, Ghana and United States) and are planning to expand to 6 more (including India) soon. Their future plans is to go beyond medicines by introducing the delivery of groceries and food items too! Thus, Today they are a $4.2 billion company, with $821 million in total funding and generating over $178 million in annual revenue. Why aren’t such services available in India?
