communication happens on the listener terms Imagine you're trying to share a thought with someone. It's like sending a package, but the package goes through lots of customs checkpoints before reaching the other person. These checkpoints are like the other person's own thoughts, feelings, and past experiences. They might see your package (your message) and think it's something else entirely, or they might only understand part of what you're trying to send. So, even though you know exactly what's in your package, the person receiving it might get a very different idea, or only get a small part of the whole thing. It's almost impossible for them to understand exactly what you meant, because their own "checkpoints" change how they see things.
