Because they have done viability market research. Majority of Indians are verbal patriots. But want cheap, imported, affordable luxury. A meaningless combinations of rich features. Getting what I mean right? I failed miserably launching a very high quality product. People asked, it is not imported, why expensive? We can get similar thing for cheap, who cares about performance, it must just give us status in the event of onlookers. That is mentality.

cheap products are scalable to the masses hence more profits because our population is poor

If people buy boat, tecno, infinix, mi, zebronics products why can't reliance do the same?

Bcz people forget that India has two segments . The first which buys products based on quality (and a little bit of price ) The other which solely focuses on price (I mean for thier income even that would be expensive) All these companies cater to the second second segment while the first segment mostly busy from American brands(mostly not trusting newbies in quality ).

They are fugging coming up with cheap Jio phones/laptops. They just need a goddamn good series of laptop/phones or any other device to create havoc in the market. Yet they choose to build cheap devices(affordable) for the Indian market.

Thing is reliance if like government literally you can say it it's on path of it. Reliance earning much more in petrolium than anything else. & it's jio is also on the varge of crap lauching right left useless things , crap ui & dead end automated bots which does nothing , service is shit , plans are made from mars people based on another universe's data . I don't know how long it will continue like this

They are a Lala company. Being a lala is inherently in their nature. They don't think like industrialists, more like money lenders.

Reliance DNA is basically they are traders. Go back a 2 decades there sucess was due to ensuring high import duties on product they produced. Later they build petroleum complex ensuring import duties were lowest on their imports. Reliance petroleum their Cash cow clicked generate 1,50 000 crores annual. Now huge cash generation is deploy to kill competence & create monopoly. This is how they killed Idea which govt is forced to support.
