Yes, we think that Indians who leave India and settle in foreign countries will one day return and contribute to India's growth. But the truth is that these individuals are more interested in contributing to the economy of their adopted country rather than India. Their primary motivation is to settle abroad and never return to India. They start to view their own country as foreign and dirty, forgetting that they too were once a part of it. They forget that they were also raised in the same 'dirt' and 'mud' that they now despise. When they compare India to developed countries, they are drawn to the latter and forget about the interests of their own nation. It's unlikely that brain drain can be converted into brain gain, as individuals who leave India rarely want to return. In fact, many of them say that India will never develop, but they forget that if people like them continue to leave and contribute to the economies of other countries, India will indeed never progress.
