I am gonna share a interesting SEO story For you guys. In my previous company, Me and 4 others were SEO team and handling the company website. It's Kinda E-commerce site. We had a big competitors already ranking higher in google than us. Not as a flex, But me and another person in team are the only guys who met monthly KPI's regularly. We handled difficult keywords and also made our website to a decent ranking for that keywords. I still remember that day,.. It's afternoon while i am entered the office, My TL was very tensed and anxious. I asked "What's Wrong?". He showed me a data which made me fell upside down. I became more anxious than my TL. 300 Spammy Backlinks has been transferred to our website. Ok to understand this story further, You should understand what's Black Hat SEO is, Black hat SEO is a set of unethical practices that violate search engine guidelines to improve a website's ranking in search results. These practices can have negative consequences for a website, including: De-ranking or removal from search results and Blacklisting or banning the website. And loading backlinks from un-authorized websites is also a Black- Hat activity. Our team did not do that and we are smart enough that we found who did this for in an hour. 2 of our competitors (Not much of big players) partnered and linked our website to spammy websites. And as the result, 2 of my high potential traffic keyword ranking dropped from Position 2 to Position 34 and Position 48 Respectively. And also many keywords faced significant drop. We was anxious that our website might loose all of our existing rankings. So, Without letting knowing our CMO. We mailed them why did they do this for us with the solid proof. They disagreed with our statement and told they are not the part of this. There are only two options for us, 1 - Request them or Give them a handsome payment to remove those links and make it broken. Get a scold from CMO for no-reasons. 2 - Or Threatening them. Guess what we choosed? OPTION 2!. My TL and I had a great friends who are expert in black hat SEO. With the help of their hands, We anonymously linked 50 high risk backlinks to them. They can't even prove that we did this, because we are not dumb as them and done it in very private IP's. After 2 days, They removed most of the backlinks in our website and so did we. The End! 😂 Moral of the story : Be kind😁. ( I seriously don't know what's the takeaway, just thought to share this story here) If you read this far, You have great attention span! Salute to you soldier!🫡
