The invention of the mobile phone began in the 1940s, with early mobile radio systems used by the military and emergency services. In 1973, Motorola’s Martin Cooper made the first mobile phone call using the Motorola DynaTAC, a large and bulky prototype. This marked the beginning of personal mobile communication. In 1983, the first commercially available mobile phone, the DynaTAC 8000X, was released, though it was expensive and limited in function. The 1990s saw the rise of smaller, more affordable phones with digital networks, like the Nokia 3210. The true revolution came in 2007 with the introduction of the iPhone, which combined a phone with a powerful touchscreen and computing capabilities, paving the way for the smartphones we use today. Mobile phones have since evolved into compact, multifunctional devices that have reshaped communication globally.
