Hello seniors/industry professionals, I’m a first-year engineering student at VIT Pune (Tier-2 college), and I’m seeking your guidance regarding my career path. Is the trend of pursuing a CS degree declining, or is it still a safe option for long-term career growth? Or should I consider switching to ENTC in my second year, with plans to pursue a master’s degree abroad and enter the VLSI/semiconductor industry? However, some seniors have advised against this, saying that ENTC is academically tougher than CS, and the job market in this field is more competitive, with fewer companies offering high-paying roles. I would greatly appreciate your advice on whether I should stick to CS or switch to ENTC. What are the pros and cons of each in terms of future opportunities, industry trends, and earning potential? Your insights would really help me make an informed decision. Thank you!
