Don’t Enter a Journey You Don’t Want to Start Let me be brutally honest with you—if you’re considering stepping into the entrepreneurial world just because you think it’s a shortcut to making a huge amount of money, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The startup journey is not glamorous. It’s not about “overnight success” or fancy headlines. It’s about relentless work—work, work, and more work. And here’s the kicker: if you don’t love what you’re doing, this grind will feel like a never-ending nightmare. Entrepreneurship demands every ounce of your energy, passion, and resilience. You’ll wear multiple hats, solve endless problems, and face challenges you never even imagined. If your sole reason for starting a business is to cash in big, you’ll burn out before you even scratch the surface. Take the example of Sheryl Sandberg, a trailblazer in the corporate and startup ecosystem. Her success didn’t come because she chased money—it came because she genuinely believed in the work she was doing. She poured her heart into solving problems, empowering others, and building something meaningful. That’s what drives true entrepreneurs. So, here’s my advice: Do what you love. If you’re passionate about something, your efforts will feel purposeful. Don’t chase money; chase impact. The money will follow if you build something valuable. Understand what you’re signing up for. Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. If your heart isn’t in it, don’t waste your time entering this field. Instead, focus on something you genuinely care about. Because at the end of the day, both industries and startups require effort—but only one will make you feel fulfilled. Ask yourself: Are you ready for this journey, or are you just chasing a dream that isn’t yours? The answer will save you a lot of time and heartache.
