I thought it was well established that the main cause of pollution is farmers burning stubble. Why do we keep looking for a new fig leaf to hide our incompetence in controlling the same.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Both stubble burning and firecrackers contribute to pollution, and the government needs to address both effectively.

It's not a fig leaf—it's a fact. Farmers burning stubble are responsible for 70-80% of Delhi's pollution during this time of year. Weddings and firecrackers are just distractions.
