People have tried and failed, there is a psychological element to social media, westeners are naturally more social and outgoing and yaha hum lift mein ekdum chup rehte hai, no hi or hello. People out in the west find such reserved and secluded behaviour to be rude so of course these tech enables stuff works there and doesn't work here.
