These fields drives innovation globally and builds a high skilled workforce Investing in them is crucial for positioning the country alongside developed nations that are shaping the global economy Yet, there is a major focus in fields like Bookings, Commerce & logistics, Consumer brands, Edtech, Payments and Gamblings? The primary reason is that these fields have demonstrated immediate scalability and profitability in a rapidly growing consumer economy While consumer-facing industries are important for short term economic growth, investing in futuristic technologies are crucial for long term sustainable development When this short-term wave settles, there will be an urgent need to shift towards Industry4.0 (ETA 2028) In what other fields do you believe we are receiving under-investments?

We’ve gotten too comfortable with the consumer economy—every VC pitch is about scalability, user acquisition, and profits within a year or two. But these models don’t push innovation forward; they’re just cash cows.

The Indian government isn’t putting enough money into research and development in AI, biotech, or robotics. We’re too obsessed with unicorns in e-commerce and fintech, but none of that will sustain us in the long run. If we don’t start focusing on these sectors soon, we’ll be playing catch-up when the world moves ahead.
