I think Freelancing market is overcrowded and not a good idea since you have find a new client each time your current project ends. It's also very unstable, you don't have any idea when your next gig is gonna come. I work remotely for a US based startup, and I would recommend to find a part time or a consultant kind of role for some US or any other country where money is cheap, they pay you really well and it is stable income as compared to freelancing.
