Why did India, despite its historical prominence and powerful empires, not pursue overseas expansion and empire-building in the same manner as European powers like the British, French, Dutch, and Portuguese?🤔💭

Because of the philosophy. We never believed in conquest. There was internal squabbling too. We believed in 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' that whole world is a family which is not true now and was not true even back then
