Monthly subscription, at times but I like your idea, too. The former because I cannot explain you the pain of seeing a subscription renewed automatically that i forgot to cancel. The wallet that deducts money upon consuming content feels like an autorickshaw prepaid meter.

I think this can be expanded to everything like using some online tools as well. Gaming apps etc. basically breaking your shackles completely from the things you pay for but barely use. This way you only pay for what you use and don't have to think twice. I am sure some budget allocation kind of thing can be done to restrict over usage and alarm you
