Does a viral marketing strategy sound stupid till it works? I was reading an article where a coffee shop based out of Amsterdam got the craziest virality story through the use of one coin. On a regular day, customers would enter the shop, order as usual and wait in line to receive their order. However, on one day, the owner decided to flip a coin with a customer on a bet & decided to give it for free if the owner lost, but the customer would have to pay double if he lost. From a business standpoint, the probability of a coin is 50-50, so in a day, he’d most likely make his money back, however, this went viral on Vine and picked up a lot of eyes. Truly inspiring, and asks the question, does a virality strategy sound stupid till it’s actually done?
