Amazon India's "Chai Cart" Strategy 👇 I am sure most of you don't know about this strategy that Amazon India employed to win over small offline sellers. Even I didn't know this, I was learning about Amazon's success in India when I got to know about this, so sharing with you all here :) When Amazon was expanding its operations in India, they faced stiff competition from Flipkart, Snapdeal, and other local players. To win over small sellers who were skeptical about online marketplaces, Amazon India employed a unique strategy: the “Chai Cart.” Amazon sent out mobile tea carts to popular marketplaces in cities like Delhi and Bengaluru. The idea was simple—serve free chai to small shop owners while explaining the benefits of selling online. This informal, yet effective approach helped Amazon onboard thousands of sellers who might otherwise have been reluctant to join the platform.
