The cooperative grew rapidly, expanding its product line to include spices, flour, and detergents.Lijjat operates on a cooperative model where all members, called "sisters," are co-owners, sharing profits equally. By 2023, it had over 45,000 members and annual revenues exceeding 1,600 crore INR (around $200 million USD).Lijjat Papad is celebrated for its role in empowering women, providing them with economic independence, and inspiring similar cooperatives globally. It stands as a symbol of successful women-led entrepreneurship, combining social change with economic growth.
