Google's $23 B offer for Wiz may reignite interest in deals and exits for cybersecurity start-ups. Wiz's $23 B offer from Google is ~2x the valuation of their Series E and 46x their ARR. Series E in May 24 : $1 B raised at $12 B valuation ⏩Investors include: a16z, Lightspeed, Thrive Capital Pitchbook data : 48 deals worth $6.9 billion in 2024. 🌩️A few caveats - - Wiz is an exception. Grew to $100 M ARR in 18 months and to $500 M ARR in <4 years. - Likely to hit a $1 B ARR in the next 12 months (growing at 120% y-o-y) - Plenty of SaaS companies are at $100 M-$200 M ARR growing at 30%-40%. Wiz's growth rate is uncommon. ⏯️Wiz turned down Google's $23 billion buyout offer. They've decided to aim for an IPO. Offers like these don't come by very often and it truly takes a 100X entrepreneur to turn one down.
