Greetings everyone, I am a university student looking to pursue a career in the cloud. Before taking any steps forward, I would like to learn more about the role of a cloud engineer within a company. For instance, what does a typical day look like for a cloud engineer? Will you code? Will you use Linux? Will you set up customer cloud designs, and more? I look forward to your reply :)

I can tell you it's both exciting and overwhelming. There's so much to learn! My advice would be to pick a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and start with their foundational certifications. They give you a good overview of cloud concepts and services.

Cloud engineering often overlaps with DevOps, so be prepared for that. In my experience, a lot of the job involves bridging the gap between development and operations. You'll likely work with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools. Coding skills are definitely needed, but it's more about scripting and understanding application architecture than heavy software development.
