Deepinder is a billionaire now. But, 1 billion is not a big deal. The way he managed to run Zomato all these years is what truly counts. Imagine for survival diluting your company so much that you end up with only a 5% stake, yet still manage to earn the billionaire titleāthat is what counts. Taking the bold decision of buying the loss-making Blinkit is what counts. To all those new founders out there, thinking too much about sharing equity, I would say: instead of worrying about how little you might end up with, focus on making that chunk worth millions or billions.
