What is Material Abundance? 🧵 Since the launch of ChatGPT, I've been very excited about the concept of a fulfilled, happy world in which individuals have a choice. Sam Altman has talked about it a few times too. It was in their pitch deck. What is it? It means an absence of the absence of basic needs. Imagine you have a house to live, a car to drive, guaranteed food on the table and a bit of money to spend on movies, friends, weekends etc. A world where basic needs are guaranteed. How would it happen? The answer is tech and innovation. Machine and AI will become so advanced that most people won't have to work. Healthcare, education, food- everything will be available to all. People can focus on creativity and personal growth. It sounds like an Utopian dream. Many compare it with socialism. But it really isn't. It's an actual possibility in the future. Imagine 0 pressure on students to purse science/medical. Imagine letting kids go free and wild. The results? We'll see much better artists, writers, athletes, work on things that matter to us, research would take a pedestal. Free will will be respected and honoured. Material Abundance will be a great equalizer. What do you think about it?

New way to look into it... Have been thinking with this perspective for a while let's see what's future have for us humans...
This post is filled with a lot of positivity , hope it becomes real. It all depends on those small AI chips...
😊😊
Brilliant!!
This sounds good. Now the first step at night is to think 'how to make this work" 😅
Hope to live and experience this utopian dream before I die.
The problem arise when Ai is so advance in future where it improves itself by writing its own algorithm, and we talk to Ai about our Mental health issues that will be horrible and it's create some more health problems in near future.
Humans don't want peace. Peace is boring. That's why we create more than enough food yet there is world hunger. We have enough land and resources for all needs. But unfortunately not enough for our greeds
Don't you think, in a world that is so polarized, this kind of statements and concepts just remain as a Concept ONLY, and don't go any further than the mere dictionary meaning? Where as winners and losers are always on the extreme sides, have more chances to become successful in the longer run?
Dude, seriously I was imagining the same weeks ago. Its obviously a amazing concept and future prediction, I hope this happens before I die
Achieving Material Abundance would require global cooperation and ethical use of technology. It’s a vision that necessitates not just technological advancements but also a shift in how we approach societal development and global equity.

The concept of Material Abundance is both inspiring and challenging. It paints a hopeful picture of the future, where technology enables a more equitable and fulfilling life for everyone. It’ll also requires us to address complex social, economic, and ethical issues to make this vision a reality.
Sounds interesting! But I think practically it would be a possibility only in a few spots. Whole world. I doubt.
Too good to be true kinda concept.
It’ll be so fun. This is the only positive possibility of AI that I have heard. 😂 But if this happens the game will significantly change.
