Adobe’s recent Terms of Use update has raised concerns in the design community about creative control. As an intellectual property lawyer, I’ve explored the nuances. While Adobe assures users that their content remains theirs and won’t be used to train generative AI tools, the ‘limited license’ for accessing our work leaves room for interpretation. Designers question the extent of this restriction and the ambiguity around using content for service improvement. Additionally, the aspect of ‘attribution’ remains unclear. Transparency is crucial, and Adobe should define content access limitations and clarify what ‘attribution’ truly means.
