I'd suggest you try your hands on cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and learn about data pipeline orchestration with Apache Airflow. Real-time data streaming with Kafka and data modeling techniques are also important. Also get to know monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and understand data governance and security practices. For courses, I did Coursera’s Google Cloud Data Engineering and UCSD’s Big Data Specialization. Udemy has some great options too, like The Data Engineering Master Class. Books like "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" by Martin Kleppmann are also invaluable.
