However, things started to turn bad for them due to 1. Geopolitical Issues Geopolitical instability and terrorist attacks made Pakistan a less safe option for layovers. 2. Economic Factors Pakistan's instable economy post-partition led to insufficient investment in the airport’s infrastructure. 3. Infrastructure Less Investment, resulted in outdated infrastructure and limited passenger handling capacity. 4. Competition from Gulf Airlines Gulf countries with their better airport location like Dubai along with world-class airlines like Emirates, made Karachi an inferior choice. 5. Better Layover Activities Cities like Dubai offers great activities for passengers during layovers, enhancing their experience. This led to the downfall of Karachi Airport!
