Wait when was the last time you went to a grocery store or a supermarket or a mall? have you noticed that there in snacks section the competitors are kept side by side think about PepsiCo's Lay's, Kurkure and Guiltfree Industries's Too Yum most of the time they are found side by side, same applies for soft drinks, often you will see that Coco cola and Pepsi are kept side by side in the refrigerator - no this is not a coincidence instead this is a genius marketing strategy. When you have only one option the question which came into your mind is - "Should I buy this or not?" but when you have two options the question you ask to yourself is - "Should I buy this or should I buy that?" so clearly in the second one you are choosing to buy something thus increasing in sales and sometimes even people purposefully buy more to support their favourite brand. That's why keeping competitors product side by side means increase in sale of both and that's why rivalries are famous and profitable.
