I'm skeptical this would really work well in practice. Most legitimate seed investors aren't going to put much stock into upvotes - they'll want to kick the tires themselves on an idea and meet the founders before considering investing. Maybe for smaller crowdfunding rounds?

Upvotes/likes can't signal if people will use that product. Liking a post/pitch doesn't take anything away from you. There should be a better metric. For example, number of people who commit to the product/idea. Commitment can be in the form of token/prebook money or registering to join the waiting list using there mobile number etc.

I can see both pros and cons. Pro is it gives founders without connections a way to get in front of investors. Con is that you'd likely get flooded with a ton of low-quality ideas and it could be a slog for investors to find diamonds in the rough. Some kind of quality curation would be needed.

I actually really like this concept for the "pre-product" stage. Just having an upvote mechanic for evaluating raw startup ideas could be valuable, almost like a Kickstarter but just for feedback/funding interest before anything exists.

Why do you think Medial is not one such platform?

Doesn't something like this already exist with platforms like Angellist and StartEngine for crowdfunding investing? I guess those don't really capture pre-seed/seed stage, more like Series A and later. So maybe there is a niche to fill here.
