Global chats would only work till the userbase is small. At a certain point there’ll be so many messages that people won’t be able to follow.

Discord would have been dead long back if this was the case. Engagement is not limited to just posts in a community. People would end up creating a whatsapp group or even a discord channel who are an active part of medial to have their group discuss
