Having closely working with startups and also helping innovators getting their patents, designs registered and protected, I have rarely come across something that is new by any Indian startup/company. It has always been copy-mould-execute. Such lack of Innovation is mostly because of low R&D spends by the govt and no ease of doing business with low standards of education. All looks good on paper but in reality and execution, the policies have been real bad.

There's something called economic complexity index... That perfectly presents this situations in numbers. Japan stands Highest in trade complexity whereas US ranks highest in research complexity. Most asian countries focus on maximising trade complexity as they render more visible tangible results.
