The 10,000 hour "rule" is pure bunk. I put in way more practice than that in my field and I'm still an underachiever. Gladwell oversimplifies the road to success and ignores things like intelligence, grit, and other innate attributes.

I loved Outliers! Gladwell's idea that success is heavily influenced by circumstances and opportunities really resonated with me. The stories about Bill Gates and the hockey players were so compelling in showing how factors beyond individual merit play a huge role.

While Gladwell tells a great narrative, I'm skeptical about some of his broader conclusions. Anecdotes don't necessarily prove his "10,000 hour rule" or make a strong case against individual merit and hard work leading to success. I'd like to see more rigorous data.
