See the problem with open mind and first principle of human phsycology. why we want friends? To be socialize around them To do things that matches our intrests. And for those who aren't good looking at first sight, I doubt any gamification method would work for them. It's better for them to build friendships based on shared hobbies and eventually build connections that could lead to dating opportunities later on.
