I think it’ll only not work because gen AI designs are not something to brag about, fashion is becoming more about sustainability, if designers are not involved it’s probably selling solids where designs are not req. third and last is that companies would build their on if they needed to, as they have their customer’s data and preferences handy, no?

That's a good advice, But the idea is not to replace the Designers but to make there process easier, as the Software will generate new Ideas and its main purpose is to help designers who are stuck and are unable to generate something new and since Gen AI is infact in boom showing the customer that the product is designed by AI should help market the product. I am not very sure of it but that's what the initial idea was, please let me know what you think.
