GST Thread 1 Evolution of GST across the years - 2000 - PM introduced the concept of GST and set up a committee 2006 - Announced by FM that GST to be introduced from 1st April 2010 2014 - Bill introduced in Lok Sabha 2015 - Bill passed in Lok Sabha 2016 - Passed in Rajya Sabha and president approval in September 2016 2017 - GST legislations passed in Lok Sabha in March and in Rajya Sabha in April ( CGST Act, IGST Act, UTGST Act and GST Compensation Act) In May 2017, Council has recommended the rules and all states have passed the State GST Act upto 30 June 2017 except J&K 1st July 2017 - GST introduced in the whole country except J&K 8th July 2017 - SGST Act passed by J&K and GST is introduced in J&K too. 2024 - The journey continues and it is nearly 7 years since inception of GST
