Only count the startups that have succeeded, measure their value, it'll give u the answer most probably. Returns are significantly high, secondly, have you ever heard or saw a freelancer on a news? Unfortunately, not often, or at all. But take startups..even the ones failing get more attention than the most successful freelancer on earth.
