While the world is moving toward VR-based social interactions, how does a text based social media find its place?

Deleted all the social media (including WhatsApp) for like 2 months, now I get no texts, from anyone and I find myself plenty of time (yeah I get bored so I watch movies, but my don't go in talking to anyone for hours, like pointless talking)..
