I live in Bangalore and was recently talking to a pan shop bhaiya near my office to understand his tapri business. Have been an old customer now so he shared. He does approx 5.6 lac in revenue and handsome profit. I know it’s not a very shiny job/business but he makes decent money and he has also built a 3 storey building in the last 30 years, gets rent, has a big enough family happily living. Makes you think 😄

You can be successful in any business or job if you work hard and apply yourself. Did you also ask him about the troubles he had to go through to get to that revenue? Corrupt police, area gangsters, difficult weather conditions, working hours etc? And for a paan shop, the area matters the most. If you can identify the area where you can get maximum revenue out of a paan shop, go for it. You will automatically realise the difficulties in getting real estate in such areas. Actually if you think it's a good idea, you should try it yourself. There is not much to lose in setting up a paan shop, probably a couple of lacs at max.
