Can anyone help me understand why engineers prioritize pursuing high-paying jobs over creating something of their own?

Risk of falling business and losing money

That's always there but the reward one may get is worth the risk. With jobs you will only think about survival and nothing more than that

That's why they don't take risk and hence choose safety

What they don't know is that if you're skills aren't good, then you are the one with least safety
