I think it's more of a strategy to uplift Gujarat as a region which is parallel to Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi. Mumbai is already called the Financial Capital of India, Bangalore is already the Silicon Valley of India and Delhi region is already the political capital with lots of big corporates present there. These regions are already crowded. So it would be counter productive to promote these regions.

Maybe other states might not have come up with such plans , a grand plan needs a visionary leader.

The gift city is basically a prototype. Even the government is not entirely sure if it will work or not. Plus the tax reduction is to attract companies to invest in the resoures there, places like bangalore or delhi dont need such promotions. This is purely my personal opinion and is not backed by any data

Yeah ofc the Biased part of It is there. But looking at it overall, seems like a good initiative, as it is close to port as well

Cities are more than buildings It would have been much more beneficial to create satellite cities, something like what NCR has

There are some sustainance issue with the smart city.

Imagine the cost implementing it all over India without doing it first somewhere. I think that’s what happening. It was just trying to create artificial demand, then coincidentally the chinese policies tightened, hence the move toGIFT was a good opportunity. Other places, I’m not so sure of, though i believe it performs well, there might be in the future.
