Where will the AI come to play? Would it be integrated to their stock? What if there are misplacements and stuff? How do they double check, if what they are discounting even needs to be discounted or not. Situational value of products in retail are huge one off issue that AI cannot solve for. For example say sanitizer during peak covid.

The AI's role would be to design coupons that don't adversely affect the retailer, similar to those distributed via payment apps. In this scenario, the retailer would have the option to choose whether to provide a genuine discount coupon or one that appears to offer a discount but doesn't actually impact their profits.
