I had this idea but not only for shoes but for apparels in general. In my thinking what I found is that if you only Target occasional items the demand will be very seasonal which is not very viable. Rather if you not only have occasional clothes but also everyday wear it will be much more viable. The catch is the items have to be high price or luxury items, something people can't buy easily, and then rent it out at a very reasonable price that someone can easily afford once or twice a week.

Was speaking to a friend who does performance marketing for apparel brands. Not big ones but D2C folks who have ad spends of ~5 Lakhs per month. Most D2C folks I know, lose money. But according to him, not in apparels. Everyone makes money in it.
