I used to make internal tools for this fintech startup in Gurgaon and eventually when there weren’t many tools to make, they laid me off. I thankfully found a job through a friends referral soon enough.

My company fired 30 odd folks for “restructuring” as the pressure from investors increased on profitability instead of growth.

Funding winter. My friends company couldn’t raise their SeriesA. They had 28 employees. Everyone was laid off.

My friend used to work for this startup which had taken seats in a WeWork co-working space. One day his entry card wasn’t working and he came to know that his gmail and slack were also logged out. Apparently the founder had decided to shut the company and lay off the entire 13 people team to his inability to raise funds. They had pivoted thrice in two years and nothing was working out but I feel it could’ve been done in a better manner.

Our sales team faced recent cuts due to performance linked reasons. Although the performance wasn’t any better earlier either but maybe just a good excuse to trim the team.

Everyday. I get a lot of these instances from friends in Bangalore :( Sad state of affairs but we’ll bounce back soon.
