It definitely used to be a wrapper but now they are building their own LLM and tech to make it more effective. At the present it definitely isn't just a wrapper.

They have their own proprietary LLM's with search indexes. They tech is improving rapidly. Bezos wouldn't bet on someone without technical due diligence.Try using it for a sustained period and you'll understand why people are going gaga about it.
