Worldā€™s first global AI resolution unanimously adopted by United Nations

The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously adopted the first global resolution on artificial intelligence (AI). The nonbinding agreement intends to protect personal data, ensure privacy policies, monitor AI risks, and uphold human rights. Proposed by the United States and backed by China and 121 other countries, the resolution is seen as a critical step in establishing international guidelines for the ethical and sustainable development of AI. Despite lacking enforceability, it received broad support in the AI industry. Prior international AI agreements include the Bletchley Declaration and initiatives by the US, UK, and Europe. The US government is currently working on AI regulation measures.
